“Abby Grace always delivers, her songs make you go whoah! Love it!”
Barn Door Radio - Australia
BIO:
“Putting the living room back in the music” – Emmylou Harris
When Abby heard this saying, it spoke to her heart and soul, and her belief that music is made to be shared. Coupled with a strong vision that music can bring peace to the world, her songs are her contribution to this cause to which she is deeply committed.
Growing up in a small town in Northern Canada, Abby didn’t have a lot of access to the world of music and only latently decided to follow her musical passion in 2013. She taught herself how to play guitar- a hand-built cigar box model to boot, and her original material is unfailingly upbeat, jaunty and celebratory, projecting inclusive messages of hope and joy.
On a visit to Nashville in 2014, Abby was discovered in a little honky tonk bar open mic by Rojo Marlowe, who loved her songs and asked if she wanted to record them. Always up for fun and adventure, she said sure, and a recording artist was born. Abby’s debut release was the Abby’s Amblings EP (2016) The songs attracted the attention of circles within Nashville’s publishing and songwriting communities, and in turn that of Paul Bezooyen of The Hermit’s Music on Vancouver Island, BC.
As a consequence of The Hermits involvement, a second EP, Senses of the Sea -August 2017 was produced, encompassing an east coast/Irish Rovers feel around her original sailing songs. While sitting in a wheelchair for 4 months after a car accident, Abby also created a wonderful story/song audio book for children based on these songs, with a focus on inspiring imagination and fun.
In March of 2020, Abby and Paul consolidated Abby’s Amblings 1 with new songs from Rojo, into Abby’s Amblings-The Path, which includes the interesting story of how it all began.
Exploring a whole new singer/songwriter acoustic sound for her next album, Wanna Change the World was released June 2020. Enjoying the feel and process, another ep followed - Remember Your Friends released November 2021. This ep was inspired by the treasured friendships she’s experienced through her lifetime, a tribute of gratitude to all.
The next, and current step in her whimsical journey happened when she met Juno nominated Marc Atkinson, The Barn Studio on Hornby Island, BC, who offered to produce her songs. Through his magical wizardry, he has brought to life 2 EP’s for Abby and her songs – Living Here on Earth- February 2023 and I’m Too Much- August 2023, which have gained a lot of attention in the Indie world. Stay tuned folks, Abby and Marc are now working on the next cd together, which promises to be a toe-tapper.
Whether performing solo acoustic shows, or playing in various bands/groups, Abby Grace is absolutely in her element, taking the audience with her in a singalong celebration of music and life’s joys and quirks, always with the intent of putting the living room back in the music.
